Research and development at the Faculty of Engineering is underpinned by the expertise of our researchers. Drawing on their core expertise in the engineering disciplines of electrical engineering, information technology, energy engineering, building services engineering, environmental engineering and mechanical engineering, they tackle the challenging problems posed by future technologies. Research and development projects are planned and implemented at the Faculty’s institutes, often in collaboration with companies and scientific institutions; they are therefore highly interdisciplinary and application-oriented.
The research activities of the Faculty of Engineering focus on the following areas:
- Advanced Materials
- Power & Electronics
- Process Automation & IIoT
- Robotics, Control & AI
- Sensors & Signals
- Smart Design & Simulation
- Smart Energy & Environment
To ensure that society and the economy can benefit from research findings, scientific expertise and newly developed technologies, the Faculty of Engineering places great emphasis on active knowledge and technology transfer.
And to inspire future scientists to study at our faculty and introduce them to the exciting world of engineering, the faculty collaborates with schools, offers excursions and co-organises science competitions such as ExperiWatt.
