Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering
Members of the Faculty of Engineering conduct research and teach in the following areas:
- Energy, Building and Environmental Engineering
- Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
- Mechanical Engineering
The close integration of teaching, research and professional practice characterises the engineering degree programmes at our Faculty. During their studies, students can also gain practical insight into modern professional fields, get to know potential employers whilst still studying, develop their own innovative research projects and help shape the future.

Induction Week | 5 to 8 October 2026
Winter Term 2026/2027
The winter semester begins for all students at HTWK Leipzig in October with the university-wide Induction Week (EFW), which aims to help first-year students settle into student life at the University of Applied Sciences.
During this induction week at the Faculty of Engineering, you will not only get to know your future fellow students, lecturers, freshers’ coaches, your student council or the university-wide student council (StuRa), but you’ll also find out the best route from the lecture theatre to the cafeteria, how the BIBO system works and why OPAL is so important.
Don’t miss out on the numerous information sessions, guided tours, the design competition with great prizes, and the barbecue on Tuesday at the Wiener-Bau.
