TMSModel
From induction to movement – a detailed biophysical model of motor activation through transcranial magnetic stimulation
The TMSModel research project is investigating the complex chain of events involved in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), from the induced electric field in the brain to the measurable response of a muscle. The aim is to develop a comprehensive biophysical model that links the activation of neural networks in the motor cortex, the transmission of nerve signals via the spinal cord and peripheral nerves, and, finally, the generation of motor-evoked potentials in the muscle.
