Scientists from the Faculty of Engineering visited the Korea Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea
HTWK Leipzig has launched a cooperation with the renowned Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Institute of Advanced Composite Materials (Jeonbuk, South Korea) as part of the DFG initiative "Supporting the Internationalisation of Research at Universities of Applied Sciences (UDIF-HAW)", which is explicitly aimed at universities of applied sciences that are interested in international research cooperation or would like to expand it. After the DFG approved the relevant funding in August of this year, HTWK scientists Prof. Robert Böhm, Prof. Peter Schulze and M.Sc. M.A. Philipp Johst from the Faculty of Engineering travelled to South Korea in October to discuss joint research projects.

On 11 October 2022, HTWK scientists met their cooperation partners at a bilateral conference at KIST in Jeonbuk, South Korea. At the beginning of the conference, the South Korean and German scientists presented their current research projects to each other. This was followed by bilateral agreements on future joint activities in the research fields of lightweight construction, additive manufacturing and hybrid and multifunctional materials. A return visit by the South Korean researchers to Leipzig is planned for next year.
