Project start Kaskawi | Development of a circular material cycle for the reuse of EoL rotor blade materials from the wind energy industry
On 24 March 2026, the kick-off meeting for the Kaskawi project took place at the Composite Circularity Lab (CCL) of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at HTWK Leipzig.
The Kaskawi sub-project of the joint project WIR! recycle fibres is coordinated by C3 - Carbon Concrete Composite e. V. and focuses on the development of a circular material cycle for the reuse of EoL rotor blade materials from the wind energy industry. In addition to HTWK Leipzig, the Bremen Fibre Institute, the Leipzig-based company Kahnt & Tietze GmbH and Swiptec GmbH are also involved in the project.
HTWK Leipzig is contributing its expertise in material mechanical analysis, the evaluation of material conditions and the development of digital material models to the joint project. The aim is to establish regional value chains for the reuse of end-of-life (EoL) rotor blade materials in the construction industry.
