24th edition of the symposium planned for 18 June 2024 at the Neue Messe again
The symposium at the end of June in the Congress Centre Leipzig (CCL) at the New Trade Fair Centre was a complete success: "sold out" by the registration deadline and once again very well attended with around 400 participants.
The audience survey revealed a positive response without exception. Around 60 per cent of the 162 respondents rated the symposium as "very good" and almost 40 per cent as "good".
These ratings mainly related to content and topics, atmosphere and venue.
In this year's opening forum, bestselling author and forester Peter Wohlleben spoke on the topic of trees and resource conservation, criticising the burning of wood.
BDEW Chairwoman Kerstin Andreae spoke on German energy policy and Dirk Hünlich (VS-U) on the importance of sector coupling and hydrogen, which also played a key role in the Gas Expert Forum.
This year, Prof Robert Huhn from HTWK Leipzig moderated the entire event for the first time, having taken over from Prof Michael Kubessa.
In the second part, the symposium offered a range of specialised gas and electricity topics.
The gas expert forum, chaired by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Huhn (HTWK Leipzig), focussed on the future viability of the gas infrastructure, particularly with regard to the use of biogas and hydrogen.
The Electricity Expert Forum, chaired by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Faouzi Derbel (HTWK Leipzig), dealt with topics such as dynamic electricity tariffs, innovative building technology solutions and the grid integration of electric vehicles.
The survey also showed that HTWK Leipzig plays an important multiplier role as a partner of the event: Around a quarter (24.1 per cent) of the visitors surveyed stated that they had heard about the conference through the university. Accordingly, a large number of young people were again represented.
