ARageriuM
Axial-flow wheel-hub motor with low unsprung mass and an integrated brake for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles
Electric motors integrated into the wheel – known as electric wheel hub motors – offer great potential. A drawback of wheel hub motors is their high unsprung mass, which has so far prevented this drive technology from being used without restriction in motor vehicles. The ARageriuM project aims to tackle this problem by reducing the unsprung mass. The approach will avoid the use of rare-earth magnets in order to minimise system costs and increase independence from non-EU countries.
