Innovative lightweight construction technologies important for solving global environmental and climate problems
On 3 December 2020, Prof. Dr Robert Böhm (Faculty of Engineering at HTWK Leipzig), Prof. Dr Hubert Jäger (Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology at TU Dresden), Prof. Dr Lothar Kroll (Institute of Lightweight Structures at TU Chemnitz), Prof. Dr Rudolf Kawalla (Institute of Metal Forming at TU Bergakademie Freiberg) and Prof. Dr Jens Ridzewski (IMA Materialforschung und Anwendungstechnik GmbH) were appointed to the new Board of Directors.Ing. Rudolf Kawalla (Institute for Metal Forming at TU Bergakademie Freiberg) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Ridzewski (IMA Materialforschung und Anwendungstechnik GmbH) were elected to the new board of Leichtbau-Allianz Sachsen e.V..
The aims of the association include pooling the scientific expertise available in Saxony's universities and research institutions in the field of lightweight construction research, strengthening the knowledge and technology transfer of research results to the Saxon economy and coordinating strategic initiatives to strengthen Saxony's lightweight construction research in order to establish Saxony as a technology centre for lightweight construction and strengthen the business location.
The Lightweight Construction Alliance Saxony was initiated with the support of Saxon politics in summer 2016 as a collaboration between the Technical Universities of Dresden, Chemnitz and Freiberg. The association of the same name was founded at the end of 2017 and now has over 50 institutional and personal members. Among other things, members are supported in networking, knowledge transfer, public relations, research and general advice on public funding opportunities.
