Prof Fuchs from the Faculty of Engineering at HTWK Leipzig is contributing his expertise in the research field of performance and technology.
Dr Christiane Schenderlein, Minister of State for Sport and Volunteering, has appointed Prof Dr Mirco Fuchs to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Institute for Sports Science (BISp).
The Federal Institute of Sports Science sees itself as an advisor and service provider at the interface between sport, science and politics. As a subordinate authority of the Federal Chancellery (BKAmt), its tasks include identifying research needs and initiating, promoting and coordinating research projects in the field of competitive sport, as well as evaluating their research results.
The Scientific Advisory Board advises the BISp, among other things, on the development of future research programmes and research management; it is made up of representatives from various scientific fields. Over the next three years, Prof Fuchs will contribute his proven expertise in sports policy issues as part of this honorary appointment and advise the BISp on the research field of performance and technology.
Mirco Fuchs has been Professor of Computer Vision and Machine Learning since 2022 and Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Engineering at HTWK Leipzig since 2023. With his Laboratory for Biosignal Processing research group, he focuses on new applications of image and video analysis in the field of sports and health.
