On 14 June 2023, the Faculty of Engineering was the venue for the Central German 3D Printing Forum.
For many years, the Central German 3D Printing Forum has offered companies, scientific institutions and interested parties a platform for exchanging information on current developments and projects in additive manufacturing.
On 14 June 2023, conference chair Prof. Peter Schulze welcomed the participants of the 3D Printing Forum 2023 at HTWK Leipzig together with Minister President Michael Kretschmer (Saxony), Rector Prof. Mark Mietzner (HTWK Leipzig) and Mayor for Economic Affairs, Labour and Digital Affairs Clemens Schülke (City of Leipzig).
The forum participants could look forward to plenary lectures on current developments in additive manufacturing and an industry exhibition of the 3D printing sector in the foyer of the Nieperbau at HTWK Leipzig. The specialist presentations at the 3D Printing Forum focussed on topics from medical technology and biotechnology as well as metals and polymers. Presentations and the exhibition also dealt with tasks from micro to macro as well as the use of artificial intelligence in 3D printing. The status of quality assurance and precision in 3D printing as well as simulation applications were highlighted and underpinned by exemplary applications. The individual sessions also focussed on questions of energy use and sustainability.
The "Central German Forum 3D Printing in Application" is organised annually by HTWK Leipzig, Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena, Merseburg University of Applied Sciences and Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. The Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena hosted the 9th Central German Forum on 29 June 2022. With the handover of the baton in June 2022, the Faculty of Engineering became the organiser and conference venue for this year. In autumn 2024, Merseburg University of Applied Sciences will host and host the forum. Dr Marco Götze received the baton from this year's conference chair Prof Peter Schulze at the end of the forum.
Conference Director Prof Peter Schulze: "Rarely before have there been such rapid connections between science and crafts, architecture and mechanical engineering as well as engineering and natural sciences. We look forward to the next forum in Merseburg in 2024."
