Prof Rosemann, Chair of Materials Technology, from the Faculty of Engineering, gave two presentations at the trade fair in Cologne.
The 79th HärtereiKongress and the 2nd Steel Innovation took place in Cologne from 24 to 26 October 2023. The HärtereiKongress (HK) of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Wärmebehandlung und Werkstofftechnik e.V.(AWT) is one of the largest European specialist congresses for heat treatment, materials technology, manufacturing and process engineering.
Prof Dr Paul Rosemann, Professor of Materials Technology at the Faculty of Engineering, took part in both conferences in Cologne in October 2023 with two presentations.
Prof Rosemann's lecture "Heat treatment, microstructure and corrosion resistance of razor steel 1.4037 (X65Cr13)" at the 79th Hardening Congress met with great interest from the representatives of the cutlery and razor blade industry in attendance. The presentation focussed on the steel X65Cr13, which is used for razor blades. Rosemann presented the results of research into materials technology, which demonstrated the influence of heat treatment on corrosion resistance.
The 2nd Steel Innovation Congress, organised by the joint Materials Technology Steel Committee of the German Society for Materials Science(DGM) and the AWT , took place at the same time as the Hardening Congress. At the Steel Innovation Congress, Prof Rosemann presented research results on the topic of "KorroPad® testing - applications from industry and research" and showed how gel electrolytes can be used for corrosion research on stainless steels.
"Presenting our research at symposia and conferences such as HK 2023 is very important to me so that our findings can be made accessible to a wide audience and also transferred into applications," emphasises Prof. Paul Rosemann.
The 80th HärtereiKongress will take place from 8-10 October 2024 in Cologne.
