From innovative materials and additive manufacturing to a sustainable circular economy: the latest issue of theresearch magazine “Insights” focuses on the theme of materials. The magazine is now available online, in the display stands at HTWK Leipzig and via a free subscription.
The latest issue of “Insights” was first presented on 10 June 2026 at the “Forschung trifft…” networking event. In keeping with the occasion, the AM3 laboratory for additive manufacturing – which was inaugurated during the event – also plays a central role in the article “Printing in the Third Dimension”.
Under this year’s focus on ‘Materials’, researchers at HTWK Leipzig demonstrate how materials can be further developed to meet current requirements, used in a more resource-efficient manner, or applied in entirely new fields. Further presentations focus on the circular economy and approaches that incorporate the longevity and reuse of materials right from the start.
A wide range of insights into research at HTWK Leipzig
Alongside the 2025 research statistics, the magazine showcases the winning entries from the ‘Research Perspectives’ photography competition, as well as numerous current research projects at the university. The highlights range from a new non-fiction comic on the topic of domestic violence, through interviews on the right of Saxony’s universities of applied sciences to award doctorates independently and on digital youth protection, to innovative green roof solutions for climate-resilient cities.
Furthermore, this issue reports on the successes of HTWK Leipzig’s football robots and showcases the research work of the current doctoral thesis award winners.
