On 2 July 2026, the first networking meeting of the EXPERT GROUP ON HIGH-FREQUENCY ENGINEERING AND RADIO COMMUNICATIONS took place.

On 2 July 2026, the newly established HF Expert Group at HTWK Leipzig hosted a networking event at Startbahn 13, attended by guests from universities, industry and federal institutions. Participants were treated to interesting presentations on high-frequency technology, communications and data security.
The EXPERT GROUP HIGH-FREQUENCY ENGINEERING AND RADIO COMMUNICATIONS (PDF, not accessible) comprises experts from various faculties at HTWK Leipzig, bringing together their expertise in the fields of high-frequency technology, communications, electronics and security. The kick-off meeting was organised under the leadership of Prof. René Sallier from the Faculty of Engineering at HTWK Leipzig and M.Sc. Jens Voigt from FTZ Leipzig e.V.
Prof. Sallier opened the event, after which the participants were given an insight into the fields of activity and laboratories of the invited company representatives and members of the HF Expert Group, who work, teach and conduct research in the fields of high-frequency technology, communications, electronics and security.
The visiting representatives from public authorities and small and medium-sized enterprises were impressed by the breadth and depth of the teaching and research areas, and emphasised that, in the current climate, these are precisely the topics that will play an increasingly important role within their organisations. The growing demands and the necessary services in the field of secure communications based on resilient technology ‘made in Germany’ are not only increasingly in demand but are also essential given the current global situation. Software and hardware solutions for large and small-scale projects in terrestrial or orbital communications applications are on the horizon and require the necessary expertise.
To conclude, Yvonne Hahn from Startbahn 13 at HTWK Leipzig presented funding and innovation initiatives to the audience, outlining how joint future projects could be initiated and financed.
We would like to thank Ms Kulik from the Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) for her support.
We aim to organise a repeat of the HF Expert Group’s networking event.
