The focus is on robotics, 3D printing and other practical STEM activities for children, young people and teachers.
The summer break is over and the RoboCreators at HTWK Leipzig are kicking off the new 2026/2027 academic year with new partnerships, workshops and events. The focus is primarily on robotics, programming, 3D printing and other STEM subjects.
New collaboration with the Leipzig School Biology Centre
A new partnership has been established with the Leipzig School Biology Centre. At the 30th Nature Discovery Day on 3 September 2026, the RoboCreators demonstrated applications relating to smart crop detection and plant health under the theme ‘AI in agriculture’. The partnership is set to be further expanded in future with programmes for pupils from Year 5 onwards. Participation in the Nature Discovery Day is also planned for 2027.
Promoting Girls’ Participation and Robotics in Schools
An afternoon technical club has been launched in partnership with the Gerda Taro School in Leipzig. Trainee physics teachers from the Leipzig Teacher Training Centre also visited the RoboCreators to find out more about the HTWK’s extracurricular STEM programmes.
Workshops with the VDIni Club Leipzig
The collaboration with the VDIni Club Leipzig is continuing. Following the ‘Creative Workshop’ on 3D printing in August, the ‘Robotastic’ workshop – an introduction to robotics and programming – will take place in September. At the end of September, the RoboCreators will also be present at the Family Games Festival in Leipzig with a hands-on robotics stand.
Hobby Fair and Robot Day
At the Leipzig Hobby Fair in early October, the RoboCreators will be presenting robotics and STEM careers alongside VDI, GaraGe, Inspirata, TechTeans and the Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). This will be followed on 25 November by Robot Day, organised by HTWK Leipzig and the Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), featuring robotics workshops and best-practice examples of how robotics can be used in everyday school life.
New contacts in the Leipzig district
At the ‘Industry in Transition’ networking event on 8 September, the RoboCreators established contacts with companies from the Leipzig district. This is expected to lead to further collaborations, particularly in the area of recruiting skilled workers.
New technology programmes at KulturGut Linda in the Leipzig district
In collaboration with KulturGut Linda, new programmes for children and young people are being developed. In the makerspace, they can try out technology hands-on and bring their own projects to life. At the ‘Soldering Magic: Creative LED Designs for Kids’ workshop on 13 November, children aged 12 and over will design their own glowing figures and ornaments.
Through new partnerships and programmes, the RoboCreators are continuing to expand their network and creating practical access to technology, robotics and STEM subjects for children, young people and teachers.
Funding
This is a project run by the Leipzig, Northern Saxony and Leipziger Land Skilled Workers’ Alliance.
