HTWK Leipzig students were invited to International Day 2026
Is it worthwhile for me to spend a semester studying or doing an internship abroad? What can I expect there? What does it cost and how do I get a place?
At International Day 2026, students reported on their experiences and experienced partners explained what to look out for.
The day of action took place on 20 May 2026 from 12:00 to 16:00 in the foyer of the Nieper Building. Students from all degree programmes were invited by the International Student Services division of the Department of Student Affairs. In addition to the direct exchange of experiences with students, there was also the opportunity to find out more about studying and internships abroad at a number of information stands.
Lectures, information stands, international café with meet & greet and snack & getaway buffet
To kick things off, the Leonardo-Saxony information event on Erasmus+ internships abroad provided a wealth of information. This was followed by information on free mover placements, particularly in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Asia, experience reports from HTWK students and reports from the DAAD correspondents, who also discussed funding opportunities via the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in particular. A "Meet & Greet" in the international café with students with international experience and our incoming student Orit from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio of our partner universities was just one of the many offers afterwards. With delicious specialities from Café Sòley, fresh drinks and energy snacks from Techniker Krankenkasse, the HTWK students were able to talk informally about their experiences and often prepare for upcoming stays abroad. At the information stands and in personal discussions, there was plenty of inspiration and information about all aspects of organisation, financing and various funding opportunities. Leonardo-Sachsen, Asia Exchange, the HochschulKolleg Foreign Languages and Interculturality Department, GOstralia!-GOmerica! and Auckland University of Technology, DAAD-Correspondents, WILMA-Local Erasmus+ Initiative and Techniker Krankenkasse were all on hand to provide advice and support.
The International Student Services staff were delighted to welcome all visitors, regardless of whether they had already planned a stay abroad and wanted to talk to former outgoing students or whether they didn't yet know where they wanted to go and wanted to find out more about the various options. "We welcome all your questions." Many thanks to all participating students and our colleagues from the counselling institutions for their commitment!
If you still have questions about a study-related stay abroad, please feel free to take advantage of our counselling services.
