Successful start to cooperation meeting between science and business - series planned at HTWK Leipzig
On12 November 2025, the Faculty of Engineering at HTWK Leipzig hosted a joint event with the Unternehmerverband Sachsen e. V. (Saxony Business Association). Around 50 guests from science and industry came together in the Nieper Building of the HTWK to discuss current and future forms of cooperative research projects.
Stephan Schönfelder, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Faouzi Derbel, Vice-Rector for Research and Sustainability at HTWK Leipzig, and Dietrich Enk, President of the Unternehmerverband Sachsen e. V., Lars Schaller, Managing Director of the Unternehmerverband, led through the programme.
The event focussed on practical insights into successful collaborations between HTWK Leipzig and Saxon companies. Joint research and development projects with Leipziger Energie Gesellschaft GmbH, NZWL GmbH (Neue Zahnradwerke Leipzig) and Mitteldeutsche IT GmbH were presented, among others. These examples illustrated how universities and companies can work together to develop innovative solutions and actively shape knowledge transfer.
The subsequent get-together offered participants the opportunity to engage in dialogue in an informal atmosphere, make new contacts and initiate future collaborations.
The response to the event was consistently positive - from both the scientific and business communities.
A continuation of the format is already being planned.
