Students from the Université d’Artois visit Leipzig in 2019
From 27 January to 1 February 2019, students from our partner university, the Université d’Artois in France, were once again guests at our faculty. As part of the partnership, which has been in place for over twenty years, a thematic seminar is held for one week each year. As in the previous year, this year’s seminar was entitled ‘Quality assurance process chains using the example of a reverse engineering process’. The seminar is largely funded by the Franco-German Youth Office, with additional grants provided by both universities.

From 22 to 26 January 2018, our faculty once again welcomed students from our partner university, the Université d’Artois in France. As part of our partnership, which has now been in place for twenty years, a themed seminar is held for one week each year. This time it took place in January, as our French partners wanted to be here whilst normal lectures were taking place, making it easier for them to meet German students. The title of this year’s seminar was once again ‘Quality assurance process chains using the example of a reverse engineering process’. The participants were mechanical engineering students from Béthune. The students were accompanied by their professors, Martin Geiß and Alain Bataille. The thematic seminar is largely funded by the Franco-German Youth Office, with additional grants provided by the International Office and our Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Technology.

In October 2017, the scheduled return visit by members of the ING Faculty took place in Béthune. Eighteen students were able to tackle specific challenges relating to the use of the CATIA CAD programme in an English-language seminar.

From 26 March to 31 March 2017, students from the Mechanical Engineering programme in Béthune were once again guests in Leipzig for a seminar on the topic of ‘Process chains for quality assurance using the example of a reverse engineering process’. The students were accompanied by their professors, Martin Geiß and Arnaud Berlemont. The thematic seminar is largely funded by the Franco-German Youth Office, with additional grants provided by the International Office and our Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Technology.
A semester abroad at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS)

HTWK Leipzig has a large number of university partnerships and thus maintains links with academic institutions in many parts of the world. Within Europe in particular, the funding opportunities for semesters abroad are excellent, including for the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).
UWS has several campuses in the west of Scotland. Depending on their degree programme, students spend their semester abroad in Paisley – a town neighbouring Glasgow – in Ayr, Hamilton or Dumfries. UWS is a campus-based university: all buildings and facilities (including the very international student halls of residence, cafés, institutes, lecture theatres and laboratories) are within a few minutes’ walk of one another, which is a major advantage.
