With his appointment, Professor Hartmann will take over the module "Special Areas of Environmental Engineering III" from this winter semester 2020/2021.

We welcome Prof Dr Ingo Hartmann as an honorary professor at the Faculty of Engineering. Prof Hartmann has been involved in teaching courses in the field of environmental engineering for many years and has supervised numerous theses. In future, he will offer the module "Specialisms in Environmental Engineering III", which will focus on the topics of his area of appointment. Students on the Master's degree programme in Energy, Building and Environmental Engineering (EGM) will thus benefit from the many years of experience of the scientist, who himself attended the faculty from 1998 to 2002 as a student of energy engineering and graduated with distinction.
Prof Hartmann has been working at the DBFZ Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gGmbH in the field of thermo-chemical conversion since 2008. For years, he has headed the "Small Plant Technology" working group, which is dedicated to researching innovative processes for the low-emission conversion of biomass.
Prof Hartmann is also head of the "Catalytic Emission Reduction" research focus area. Under his leadership, the scientists are researching catalytic emission reduction on solid-state catalysts in combustion plants for gaseous, liquid and solid bioenergy sources. The focus is on the catalytic reduction of combustion emissions of methane (CH4), volatile organic compounds (NMVOC), semi-volatile and semi-volatile hydrocarbons such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and polychlorinated dioxins and furans (PCDD/PCDF), soot particles and nitrogen oxides.
The appointment of Prof Dr Ingo Hartmann represents a major gain for teaching and research in the field of environmental technology at the Faculty of Engineering.
