Strengthening STEM education in the district of Leipzig Linda/Frohburg
The RoboCreators of HTWK Leipzig and the KulturGut Linda e.V. association are continuing their successful cooperation and expanding their joint work to promote STEM education in the district of Leipzig. The aim of the collaboration is to get children and young people interested in maths, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM) at an early age and to sustainably strengthen practical educational opportunities in rural areas.
The cooperation focuses on low-threshold, hands-on learning formats such as workshops, project programmes and open learning spaces in which young people not only learn about technology in theory, but can also design and try it out for themselves. Topics such as robotics, programming, 3D printing, electronics and making are combined with creative and cultural approaches.
With its listed four-sided courtyard, KulturGut Linda offers a special learning and meeting place where education, culture and community come together. With the emerging makerspace and the club rooms, the association is creating optimal conditions for innovative educational formats. The RoboCreators contribute their technical and didactic expertise from university and school practice and work together with KulturGut to develop tailor-made offers for the district of Leipzig.
"By continuing the cooperation, we can reach young people, especially in rural areas, and give them access to modern technology and digital skills," emphasise the project partners. At the same time, the cooperation makes an important contribution to securing skilled labour and strengthening regional educational structures.
The cooperation builds on previous joint activities and is to be further expanded in the coming years. New workshop formats, collaborations with schools and open programmes for children, young people and families are planned. The RoboCreators and KulturGut Linda are thus sending out a strong signal in favour of future-oriented education and lively places of learning in the district of Leipzig.
"The collaboration with RoboCreators is of great importance to us because it shows how lively educational work can succeed in rural areas. STEM education is a central key to participation, future skills and equal opportunities. Through this cooperation, we are creating an open place of learning where young people can combine technology, creativity and community," says Marc Mascheck, KulturGut Linda e. V.
The RoboCreators are a project of the Leipzig, North Saxony and Leipziger Landskilled labour alliances.
