Girls and boys in grades 10 to 12 gained insights into studying at HTWK Leipzig from 26 to 29 October 2021
During the Saxon autumn holidays from 26 to 29 October 2021, girls and boys in grades 10 to 12 were able to find out more about studying at HTWK Leipzig and gain some interesting initial insights.
With more than 90 registrations and 30 individual events, the Summer University 2021 has started with a new concept and interesting offers - live, digital and modular.
Until 2019, the Summer University was designed as a five-day taster course and offered all participants an insight into numerous degree programmes from the seven faculties with information events, guided tours and workshops. Since 2020, interested parties can now select individual events.
Anyone who wanted to take part in the 2021 Summer University had to register online early for their preferred event, as the number of participants was limited, especially for workshops such as study orientation, 3D printing or sustainable construction. One event could be selected per module.
The information workshops on study orientation, which took place on the first day of the summer school, were booked out very quickly. Interested parties were given an informative insight into studying at the HTWK, including a tour of the campus with students.
The second day was dedicated to the online modules. Lecturers and students presented their degree programmes via Zoom, provided information about studying abroad and were available to answer questions. The digital offer was also taken up by students from distant regions.
On the third and fourth day of the Ferienhochschule 2021, pupils were able to get creative, programme, design or measure solar cells in workshops. In the workshop "Design your 3D object and take it into your own hands", participants were able to create their own name tags with the online programme Tinkercad under the guidance of Jan Dossin (Laboratory Engineer, Faculty ING) and then have them printed out by the 3D printer. Laboratory engineer Lukas Kube from the Faculty of Engineering presented the DMU 50 in the workshop "How do I programme a machine tool?". Programming was also possible and anyone who wanted to could then try out their programme on the machine tool.
Thanks to the new, modular concept, more students were able to take advantage of the programmes offered by HTWK Leipzig's holiday university. There was a particularly high level of interest in all the programmes relating to sustainability, energy and the environment, as well as the study orientation with a guided tour of the campus.
In addition to the holiday university prospective students also have the opportunity to find out more at the following information events:
